Barbara Young's Personal Story

Liver Transplant Recipient 11/91
Barbara was having grand mal seizures and was weak from a liver condition which had begun in 1989. By 1991, she was placed on the waiting list for a liver transplant.
In November 1991, the family of a 14-year-old Northern California
girl faced a tragic situation when their daughter died unexpectedly.
Even in their grief, they thought of others and decided to donate
her organs and tissues.
Barbara received the girls liver within a few hours. Later, with the consent of the girls parents, she and the family met each other for the first time when she attended a tree-planting ceremony in the girls honor planned by her high school friends.
Today Barbara travels with her husband and enjoys life again because of the generosity of a special family who in their own time of sadness, reached out to help others.
Here is a brief letter from Barbara ...
I have seen my daughter graduate from high school and will graduate in June '98 from College with a degree in psychology. My four grandchildren all get to be spoiled by Grandma Barbra. None of the would have been possible but for a wonderful young girl named Danielle.
