Margaret Davidsons's Personal Transplant Story
![]()
Liver Transplant Recipient 3/2/94
Margaret was diagnosed with liver problems in 1986, and in 1990 was placed on the waiting list for a transplant. Three and a half years later, on March 2, 1994, Margaret received her second chance at life.
On the day before, a young mother died tragically in a car accident, and her family reached beyond their grief to provide life to someone else. They made the decision to donate her organs and tissues. That gift of life provided Margaret's seven grandchildren with the chance to experience their grandmother's love.
Here is a brief letter from Margaret ...
I had wanted to find my natural family (I was adopted) for many years, but never had much luck finding out anything, until after transplant.
Then it was as if everything just fell into place. After a little research, some counseling, I received a copy of my birth certificate from England. I decided to go there to see what I could find out for myself. A friend here who had a sister living in my home town, wrote her with the details and she put an ad in the local paper. I arrived in England on Friday, the next day the ad ran and someone answered it and it all went from there. I found I had three sisters, two older one younger, and many nieces and nephews.
So here I have been doubly blessed - a new life and a new family.
