On August 5th, 1998 the U.S. Postal Service, along with Golden State Donor Services and Sierra Eye and Tissue Donor Services, dedicated the new National Donor Stamp at the West Sacramento, CA Post Office. The ceremony was emceed by channel 10's main anchor Dale Schornack. Many Transplant Recipients and Donor Families were speakers as well. Live music was performed by Touch the World singing the song 'I Want To Live On' in tribute to Organ and Tissue Donation.

Many Vital Volunteers along with the public attended the Ceremony and it was a great success ! We had Media coverage including local TV and Radio Stations. Many transplant recipients wrote a thank you letter to their donor family and at the stamp dedication, they affixed the new National Donor Stamp to their letters, and mailed them, in front of the cameras.

The Postal Service made available a limited number of cachet's and also hand canceled the new donor stamps on the Program Sheets provided. There were refreshments, cookies, and giveaways ! Our thanks to the many, many people involved who helped make this ceremony the huge success it was !
